Melissa Schenkman
Melissa Schenkman, MPH, MSJ, is an award-winning health and medical writer and journalist. She has a wealth of experience writing for professional and lay audiences in explaining complicated health and medical concepts using creative techniques. She is the Founder of YMyHealth – Healthcare Stories for Generation Y, a digital health resource for millennials—individuals ages 27-42. At ymyhealth.com, she has reported on the impact diabetes and other chronic health conditions have on young people and received numerous awards for her work, including a 2023 Hermes Creative Gold Award for her feature story promoting dysautonomia awareness and the rising number of diagnoses of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome in millennials.
Melissa earned an MPH in behavioral science and health education from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She also holds an MSJ from the Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University, where she received the Comer Scholarship in Health, Medical and Environmental Reporting.
