Third Annual Postcard Exchange Raises Awareness of World Diabetes Day
This November will be the third annual World Diabetes Day Postcard Exchange, where people from around the world will send and receive handmade postcards to celebrate World Diabetes Day and Diabetes Awareness Month. Postcards will have a blue circle, the international symbol of diabetes, in their design. The primary goals of the project are to increase recognition of the blue circle, promote awareness of World Diabetes Day, encourage creative expression, and provide an opportunity to connect to others. The postcard exchange was founded in 2011 by Lee Ann Thill, a certified art therapist and advocate for art as a path to healing and embracing life. She is an active part of the diabetes online community and founder of Diabetes Art Day, which along with the postcard exchange, have created wonderful opportunities to use creativity to raise awareness of diabetes and connect with others.
World Diabetes Day is a celebration of the global diabetes community held on November 14. For more information, please read our coverage of last year’s event and the official page on the International Diabetes Federation website. –NL
