Win a Full Scholarship to the 2017 DiabetesMine Innovation Summit
By Ben Pallant
The 2017 Patient Voices Contest is currently open; winners will receive a full scholarship to attend the 2017 DiabetesMine Innovation Summit in Palo Alto
What fresh ideas or initiatives could make a difference at the local level for living well with diabetes? What would make a difference for your diabetes or for someone you love who has diabetes? Share your ideas about how to “act locally” and make a difference by entering the DiabetesMine Patient Voices Contest, and you could be one of ten people selected to receive a fully funded scholarship to attend the 2017 DiabetesMine Innovation Summit in Northern California in November. Entries will be accepted until May 19.
In their call for submissions, DiabetesMine asks, “What contributions to innovation can we patients make without relying on the system?” Applicants are asked to propose innovative ideas that could be implemented “in your own backyard to help people with diabetes live better, less complicated and more fulfilling lives.” DiabetesMine emphasizes that entries will be judged on both the passion expressed in the application, as well as the proposed solutions – so be creative!
Selected winners will receive a scholarship to attend the DiabetesMine Innovation Summit on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Stanford School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California. The scholarship covers the cost of air travel, two nights in a hotel, and meals.
At the Summit, winners of the Patient Voices Contest will act as “delegates,” representing the voice of the diabetes community and sharing with pharmaceutical and insurance industry experts, regulatory leaders, healthcare providers, and more, the needs and goals of people with diabetes. This is a great opportunity to innovate and be heard! Kudos to DiabetesMine for working to bring the voices of people with diabetes to the forefront of innovation in such a meaningful way.
So how do I apply?
The application can be found at the end of this announcement by DiabetesMine. To apply, you will need to provide:
-
A brief explanation of why you want to attend the summit;
-
Between one and three ideas of things people with diabetes could do or develop locally to help themselves;
-
And, if applicable, any visual materials (movies, images, etc.) that might illustrate these ideas.
Can anyone enter the Patient Voices Contest?
Anyone with a personal connection to diabetes (type 1 and type 2) can enter the Patient Voices Contest. This includes people with diabetes, family members and caregivers, online advocates, and more.
